News for 2025

Rachael and Jayne are excited to share that they were  in Singapore in November at the International Allied Health Conference (IAHC 2024). Having had two abstracts accepted they will also co facilities a workshop with Dr Charlene Tan-Smith from NZ . Dr Tan-Smith used Calderdale Framework (CF) to develop a new ketogenic service for children with some amazing results. This will be soon be shared as an exciting case study on the area CF website.

Also from NZ, CF Practitioner Kaye Cheetham shares her story of strategic implementation. This too was inspiring as it has developed cultural competence as part of the process across both Te Waipounamu and Te Tai Tokerau. We can all learn a lot from the approach taken in NZ in terms of taking a strategic approach to optimise outcomes and speed good practice.

CF Ltd have been working with NHS E in the development of an Advanced Practitioner Role in Breast Diagnostics. This is still waiting NHSE formal sign off but has been an brilliant example of how involvement of NHSE front line staff from multiple professional backgrounds, along with the professional bodies, can use CF to collaboratively develop a patient centred role to help manage increasing demand on services.

As a direct response to The Richards Report published in 2023 which framed the imperatives facing diagnostic services post Covid as well as highlighting pre Covid deficiencies,   NHSE  South West commissioned CF Ltd to take a strategic approach to its workforce transformation .

Working with Calderdale Framework Ltd to co design new support worker and assistant practitioner role descriptors in Health Care Science and Diagnostic Radiography has been an enlightening and fantastic journey  from imagining the art of the possible to delivering outputs that are not only suitable for adoption across the SW of England but also have the potential to shape and transform National Policy.

Staff are empowered to challenge their own boundaries and perceptions and to critically analyse the skills and tasks required to deliver safe and effective services. We have also invested in Calderdale Framework Facilitator training, which will leave the region with a legacy of skilled facilitators able to further promote and deliver workforce transformation across the diagnostic programme.

We are thrilled to announce that Humber & North Yorkshire ICB have invested in the UK’s first cohort of Calderdale Framework Practioners.

Helen Yewdell, one of the early adopters of CF in North Lincoln and Goole, with an impressive track record in CF workforce transformation across multiple disciplines, is joined by Lynsey  McDonald who is a brilliant partner and has a background in Speech and Language Therapy as well as being an enthusiastic advocate for CF. This follows the successful  and sustainable approach taken in New Zealand as presented in Singapore (see above).

All in all a very successful and very productive year!

With the uncertainty of upcoming  structural reforms, the one thing we can be certain about is the need to meet service users’ needs in a safe, effective and as productive way as possible. As we start the new financial year for 2025-2026 Calderdale Framework has never been more relevant.
