Welcome to a very overdue CF News update!
The last 12 months have had some ups and downs for us all but we are really delighted that on the CF Front things have been going from strength to strength both in the UK and overseas.
Nationally
We are delighted to report we have been commissioned by HEE to co produce an ACP in breast diagnosis with services across England. This will build on some great existing work and align to the Multi Professional Framework for Advanced Practice in England (Centre for Advanced Practice).
This will result in consensus around the role and scope of ACP in Brest diagnosis services, increasing development opportunities for staff and optimising access for patients.
Regionally
HEE SW have commissioned us to establish and coproduce roles for the support workforce in Diagnostic Services (focus on imaging and physiological sciences) across each of the 7 ICS organisations.
This also includes developing CF Facilitator training in each of the ICS which will build CF capability that will enable Diagnostic services to continue to implement CF methodology going forward across wider diagnostic service.
Local level
Barnsley – what an amazing bunch these guys have been!
Projects have spanned AHP, Theatres, Nurse Associates, Physiological Sciences to name but a few.
Overgare Hospice in Elland is the first hospice organisation in the Country to under take CF implementation. This has resulted in the co-development of a bespoke competency training resource for support staff covering nursing and AHP Activities. All levels and disciplines of staff have been involved throughout the process… inspiring stuff! This will shortly be added to our competency library.
A huge well done to Helen Melaugh (Specialist Physiotherapist) and Marie Sullivan for being so forward thinking!
A presentation of these training resources to the support workers is in the pipeline so watch this space…
ICS level
Calderdale Framework Ltd have worked at this level with 2 ICS partners to date:
- Northern Care Alliance (see video)
- Bristol and North Somerset and South Gloucester (where a system wide approach has been very much adopted)
New Zealand
2023 has already kicked off with more CF Facilitator Cohorts in both the North and South Island. The CF Practitioners over there are doing some amazing work and we continue to learn from each other as our experiences broaden and evolve in line with changes in National Strategy, service demands and service user needs. Cultural competence is a priority in NZ and we will certainly be sharing the learning from this.
Also, we’re very excited to let you know CF has been successfully used in Mercy Hospital in Dunedin; a private hospital that recognises the need to futureproof its workforce. This work is planned to be shared at the National NZ Private Hospitals Forum.
Last but certainly not least
We are working with Otago Polytechnic (Collage of Work Based Learning) to credential The Effective Workforce Programme (CF training) to a Masters Award In Professional Practice. Hopefully the first cohort will start in the spring and this can be broadened out for oversees students in the future. That could be you!
